Chennai: Sify Technologies Ltd, a leading digital ICT solutions provider, on Wednesday announced that it has concluded a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Vibrant Energy Holdings, a majority-owned subsidiary of Blue Leaf Energy Asia, for sourcing 231MW of green energy to power its data centres in Mumbai.
While the PPAs are for 231MW of solar and wind energy capacity, 67MW solar PPA was signed in March, 2021 and recently commissioned. An additional Rs 1,250 crore will be invested to establish the balance capacity through a combination of debt and equity at 2:1 ratio, with Sify picking up 26% of the equity part, company officials said.
By simultaneously investing in both solar and wind energy, Sify will soon be able to deliver most of the power required for its flagship data centers in Mumbai from renewable sources. It intends to continue increasing renewable penetration across its nationwide footprint for data centres in Noida, Chennai and Bengaluru, depending on local regulations, the company said.
