Kolkata: A section of the busy Chinar Park crossing will be shut for seven days from Sunday to facilitate a crucial work in the New Garia-Airport Metro project. Trial runs have indicated that the wait time at the signal could increase by two-three times following the restrictions.
Since Friday night, the stretch has been barricaded to allow launching of a 40-metre girder for the New Garia-Airport metro viaduct, triggering a major change in the traffic flow at the intersection and increased halt at the traffic signal. The arrangement will be in place till next Sunday night till the girder is placed between two pillars.
