Domestic equities opened lower on Wednesday tracking global cues and key quarterly results. BSE benchmark Sensex opened 194.52 points, or 0.32 per cent down to 61,160.19, while broader NSE Nifty plunged 65.60 points, or 0.36 per cent to 18,082.05.
By 9.30 am, Sensex slipped 258.8 points, or 0.52 per cent to 61,095.91, while Nifty50 was down 79.85 points, or 0.44 per cent to 18,067.80.
IndiGo jumped nearly 6 per cent after Go First on Tuesday announced that it has involuntarily filed for insolvency proceedings with the NCLT and has suspended its flights from May 3 to May 5 over pending dues owed to oil marketing companies.
