South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to install five tonne bio-gas waste to energy plant at ‘Waste to Wonder Park’ to produce energy by using waste.
The civic body has also entered into an agreement with ‘Security Printing and Minting India Limited’ (SPMIL). Bio-gas typically refers to a mixture of different gases produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. Bio-gas can be produced from raw materials such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or food waste.
SDMC Mayor Sunita Kangra said that proposed plant will produce 700 cubic meter of bio-gas which will approximately generate 1,400 units of electricity per day besides 500-600 kg of organic manure.
