In a bid to ramp up its efforts to go green and earn revenue simultaneously, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has achieved another milestone by earning nearly Rs 90 lakh by selling surplus solar power generated from solar panels installed over roof-top of its buildings to power distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL).
SDMC Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti said that the decision to install solar panels on municipal buildings has yielded a good result as the civic body has added over 90 lakh in its revenue.
“The civic body generated 6615 KW power from solar panels installed over 150 of its buildings,” he said, adding that with the move the SDMC also saved a huge amount as it generated electricity for fulfill its requirements and even earned lakhs of rupees by selling surplus power to BRPL.
