MUMBAI: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Monday wrote to municipal commissioner-administrator Iqbal Chahal demanding that toll collection at the city’s entry points on Western Express Highway (WEH) and Eastern Express Highway (EEH) be scrapped immediately as the BMC, and not MSRDC, maintains these roads.
He also promised to stop toll charges on both highways when his party comes to power in the state.
“The state government has transferred WEH and EEH to BMC. While the civic body is taking special care [repair] of these roads, MSRDC is collecting tolls. This…should be stopped immediately,” Thackeray said.
