Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday commented on the Gujarat bridge collapse demanding a Supreme Court monitored commission to inquire into the reasons of the mishap that claimed 136 lives in Morbi town of the western State.
“The Government should consider that this is an act of crime that has claimed so many lives … my condolences to the family members of those who died in the bridge collapse … but they (Gujarat government) have only arrested some ordinary people … the main culprits are clearly being spared,” the Bengal Chief Minister said demanding “judicial inquiry into this incident … there should be a Supreme Court monitored commission to look into the matter so that the real culprits are brought to book… these people should be given exemplary punishment.”
