NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered indefinite deferment of execution proceedings initiated by Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt Ltd (DAMEPL) for recovery of over Rs 4,600 crore arbitral award money from cash-strapped Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
A bench led by CJI D Y Chandrachud ordered deferment of execution proceedings pending in the Delhi High Court on the plea of solicitor general Tushar Mehta, who also requested for early hearing of DMRC and Union government’s curative petition seeking reversal of the SC’s 2021 judgment upholding the award in favour of DAMEPL.
