ZURICH: India has allowed Russian carriers to operate 64 weekly flights up from the earlier 52 giving direct connectivity a boost between the two countries. Russian carriers can fly to six destinations in India — Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Goa, Amritsar, and Ahmedabad, said a travel official working for Aeroflot. And Indian carriers can also fly to six Russian destinations, including Moscow and St Petersburg, she added.
Due to western sanctions on Russia following the Ukraine war no Indian carrier is flying to the country and Air India stopped due to insurance issues. Russian carrier Aeroflot will operate a daily flight between Delhi and Moscow this summer, up from four times weekly in winter. It operates thrice weekly between Moscow and Goa. “We are working on (flying to other Indian cities),” said the Aeroflot official.
