The State Administrative Council (SAC) today announced a major power amnesty scheme for consumers in its bid to facilitate the recovery of pending dues of around Rs 3,000 crore.
The amnesty scheme would cost around Rs 600 crore to the exchequer of the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
“As a welfare measure and in order to give an opportunity to power consumers to prevent disconnection and to facilitate easy payment of dues, the SAC has approved an amnesty scheme for all power consumers, including domestic, industrial and institutional. The amnesty scheme shall come into effect from March 1, 2020, and it envisages the payment of all arrears in three easy instalments,” Rohit Kansal, J&K government spokesperson told reporters here.
