Aimed at reviving the grim hydro-power sector, the government has decided to waive Rs 150 crore penalty imposed on private power companies.
The Cabinet, at its meeting yesterday, gave its nod in this regard. The beneficiary firms have 162 small and 32 big hydro projects, whose completion has been delayed. Many big companies have surrendered the allotted projects after facing difficulty in their completion.
