The rapid rail between Delhi and Meerut will be called RapidX, the National Capital Regional Transportation Corporation (NCRTC) said Tuesday.
The Rapid Rail Transit Services (RRTS) corridor will be 82 km long and is expected to bring down travel time between Delhi and Meerut. The NCRTC is aiming to commission the entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor for the public by 2025. The 17-km priority corridor, from Sahibabad and Duhai, is likely to be inaugurated for public service in May this year, said officials.
“The brand name is easy to read and simple to pronounce… In addition to signifying speed and progress, the X in the name denotes next generation technology and new-age mobility solution,” said NCRTC officials.
