MUMBAI: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable, part of a team escorting the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express, shot to death four people early on Monday in the running train between Vaitarna and Mira Road stations. Three of the victims were passengers while the fourth was an assistant sub-inspector with the RPF.
Chetan Singh, the 34-year-old accused, was chased and nabbed by Government Railway Police (GRP) at Mira Road after he got off the stationary train and tried to flee. Officials said Singh was “hot headed and appeared to have lost his cool.” The trigger for the incident is still being investigated as are reports of him suffering a “mental health breakdown.” A viral video clip shows Singh standing next to a blood splattered corpse and rambling off a monologue to terrorized passengers.
