Rohit Nandan to continue as Air India CMD for one more month

Rohit Nandan will continue to work as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of national carrier Air India for one month or till Ashwani Lohani takes over from him.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has extended the tenure of Nandan, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, as CMD, Air India for a period of one month beyond Aug 21, or till the regular incumbent joins the post, an order issued today by Department of Personnel and Training said.

Nandan was appointed as Air India CMD for three years on August 12, 2011. His tenure was extended twice–first in August last year, for three months, then in October. His second extended tenure was till today.

The ACC had yesterday named Lohani, a Railway Service officer and Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) in Bhopal, as CMD of Air India for three years.

In another order, the tenure of Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi has been extended for one month beyond August 23. Zutshi is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre.

The ACC has also approved continuation of additional charge of CMD, India Trade Promotion Organisation for three months from July 3, 2015, to J S Deepak.

Deepak, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is presently Additional Secretary in Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
