KOLKATA: Spells of rain over the last few weeks have laid bare several craters on city’s major thoroughfares that have turned into motorists’ nightmare, particularly two-wheeler riders.
The Kolkata traffic wing has identified 388 spots where road repair has become a necessity to avert fatal accidents. According to sources, the accident that occurred last Saturday near St Georges Gate was one instance where bad roads contributed to a fatal accident. Out of the stretches under scanner, the condition of roads in the Port area, along with Biren Roy Road West, James Long Sarani and MG Road are stated to be the worst.
