A number of rural roads connecting villages with the district headquarters or with sub divisional headquarters are in bad shape. Chief Minister Manohar Lal in his speeches highlights construction of highways in the state but rural roads are in bad shape. The residents of villages had repeatedly organised protest in the Guhla-Cheeka area against bad, potholed roads during recent months. During my recent visit, I found big potholes on the Kaithal-Sirta-Farashmajra-Kheri Gulam Ali village road. The agitated villagers express their resentment to the area MLA over bad roads but all in vain. The people demand that the government should undertake repair of rural roads on war footing to facilitate smooth travel.
