CHENNAI: “Rain or shine, driving on Nookampalayam road is a nightmare. When it rains, we skid off and fall. When it shines, dust from the road fills our eyes, nose and mouth, making us lose balance,” said Udhaya Vennila, a resident of the neighourhood.
For more than a decade, the authorities have not laid a road except for temporary patchworks during rains. The 5-km long, 60-foot wide Nookampalayam road is a key stretch linking OMR in Semmanchery to Medavakkam, and is used by many IT employees. Many apartment complexes dot the road, which comes under the Perumbakkam panchayat.
