NEW DELHI: The government has scrapped the reverse auction process for wind power projects and will offer cumulative 8 GW (gigawatts) capacity every year till 2030 through single-stage closed-envelop bidding, accepting a long-pending demand from the industry.
The revised norms also prescribe tariff-pooling to supply power at a uniform rate to all consumers, a move that is seen expediting capacity addition in all the eight windy states, sources said.
Bids will henceforth be state-specific wherein the project promoters will offer the tariff based on the cost of feeding the power into the grid at the particular interconnect point identified by them.
