Reticulated gas systems are the closest to piped supply that many residents have seen in the city over the past few years. Piped supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from cylinders kept in gas banks has become commonplace in many apartment complexes in the city.
D. Krishnamurthy, president, Orchards Appasamy Apartments Owners Association, said that it has been 10 years since he booked a gas cylinder since the connection is in the name of the association and members pay for the gas according to their usage that is measured with a meter.
“Everything is done by the agency. We have regular maintenance routines and so have had no accidents. We are now planning to replace the pipelines since the system is 10 years old. The reticulated gas system is very comfortable and economical.
