City residents staged a protest against power tariff hike at Paras Ram Nagar chowk on Friday. Former councilor and SAD leader Vijay Kumar led the protest. He flayed the incumbent state government for putting unnecessary burden on the common man and demanded immediate roll back of the hike.
Protesters claimed that the power rates in Punjab were already higher than those of other states. They also raised slogans against the tariff hike.
Vijay Kumar said people of the state were already under financial stress and the hike was beyond their capacity. The Congress had misled people of the state and now, every section of the society was suffering due to their policies.
