CHENNAI: The scheduled power cut on Tuesday in parts of Sholinganallur lasted 11 hours, draining power backup systems of charge and irking residents along the IT corridor.
A power shutdown was announced from 9am to 4pm for to carry out maintenance at Iyyappanthangal, Sholinganallur, Porur and Menambadu. However, in Sholinganallur, power was cut at 8am and restored at 7pm.
“We got a text message on Sunday informing us of the scheduled power cut. However, this morning, the power went off an hour earlier and was restored three hours after the scheduled time. We were prepared for the cut but this one was extremely long especially on such a hot day,” said Nagalakshmi, a resident of Semmenchery.
Residents dialled the local EB office for updates, but without much help. Some termed the wait a “torture”.
