Miffed over repeated damage of roads due to heavy vehicles carrying ready-mix concrete (RMC), the Mohali Municipal Corporation House today directed the owners of five RMC plants to repair certain roads or pay charges within a month or be ready to face the music.
In the meeting that took place at MC Bhawan in Sector 68, owners of the RMC plants were told that their electricity connection would be snapped if they failed to comply with the directions of the House.
The House took the decision after they got to know about the fact that around 300 vehicles, having a load of around 20 tonnes of RMC each, plied on the town’s roads. “The roads are being damaged by these heavy vehicles,” the councillors said. The MC engineering department has also prepared a report in this regard.
