NEW DELHI: Refineries’ carbon emissions will now be used to boost crude oil production from ageing oilfields in the country.
Indian Oil has signed a preliminary agreement to capture carbon dioxide emitted from its refineries and pipe it to ONGCNSE 1.09 % and Oil IndiaNSE 0.20 % for injecting in their depleting oilfields to boost output, a move that would address climate change concerns as well as India’s falling oil production, SSV Ramakumar, Director (Research & Development) at Indian Oil Corp, told ET.
