The Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7, on Monday, reported its highest ridership at 1,70,248 commuters on a single day.
The official further said that when Phase 1 of both Metro Line 2A and 7, which covers 20-km stretch between Aarey and Dhanukarwadi, became operational last year April, the average number of dally commuters was 30,000 to 40,000.
However, with service on the entire 35-km stretch began this year on January 20, ridership has substantially gone up. The current average daily ridership is 1.6 lakh.
Last week on Friday, that is April 7, ridership crossed the 2 crore mark, within a year of starting full operations, as per Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL).
