The Indian Railways has planned doubling the capacity of overhead power lines to ensure that newer trains such as the Vande Bharat express can ply comfortably.
According to an order by the Railway Board, all electrification of routes will now be sanctioned with 2×25 KV traction system only. This is an upgrade from 1×25 KV traction system already in place.
