MUMBAI: The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is executing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, has received an allocation of Rs 19,592 crore for the next fiscal, with a focus to expedite work on the Maharashtra leg of the project that had come to a standstill during the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
In the 2022-23 budget, the railway ministry had allotted Rs 5,000 crore for the project when the work was largely restricted to Gujarat.
As per the budget documents, the railway ministry has sanctioned Rs 19,592 crore. Such large allocation is based on the expectation that work will commence at a rapid pace in Maharashtra.
