CHENNAI: Passengers with berths on the last coupe of a sleeper coach on an express train to Chennai were irked to see that caterers had locked one door and had piled crates of food, water bottles, packets of paper cups in the doorway near the toilets. The tea vending drums were on the vestibule.
Food and beverages are often handled near the toilets and near the doors, often blocking the exit on trains that do not have pantry cars as railways have not given a dedicated space for the caterers to store food items and for the staff to keep their belongings when on duty. Frequent travellers say that this is more or less a common sight on overnight trains.
