Breaking its silence on the controversial Shreemandir Parikrama Project near the 12th-century shrine at Puri, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Monday told the Orissa High Court that the ongoing construction work of the project being carried out by the Odisha Government in the “prohibited” area of the ancient monument has no valid permission or NOC (No objection certificate) from the competent authority.
In a 70-page affidavit to the High Court, the ASI further informed that the drawings and structural designs included in the revised DPR are different from the ones presented to the National Monuments Authority (NMA).
