Due to heavy traffic on national highway 44, a new road will be constructed as a parallel alternative between the western yamuna canal and the carrier line channel in the border of Panipat and Sonepat districts of Haryana.
Following the intervention of Chief Minister Manohar Lal, the National Capital Region Planning Board has sanctioned the budget of Rs 150 crore and the State Government has sanctioned Rs 50 crore for this.
Now the 24.78 km road from Dindar village of Panipat, to Barwasni of Sonipat will be made 10-meter wide. This will facilitate alternative road routes to thousands of drivers on daily basis and the possibilities of development in the surrounding areas will increase, said Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain.
She said that in view of the increasing pressure of vehicles on the national highway 44 (former National Highway 1), she had requested the Chief Minister Manohar Lal for the construction of a wide alternate road from Harewali of Delhi to Sonipat, Panipat.
