The High Court on Thursday directed Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd to process cases of only those applicants who have applied for retail outlets in J&K in consonance with provisions of state laws.
The court also directed that “Clause (IV) of the guidelines issued for the purpose and incorporated in the advertisement notice shall not be given effect in respect of the applicants who are not fulfilling requirements in keeping with local laws”.
A division bench of Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey and Justice Tashi Rabstan asked Union Petroleum Ministry, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, the three Public Sector Oil Companies and all deputy commissioners to respond to a plea by a group of petrol pump owners.
