MUMBAI: The power usage for electric vehicles (EVs) in the state increased from 4.56 million units in September 2022 last year to 14.44 million units in July this year, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) said on Monday.
With this increase, there has been a threefold rise in power usage for EVs in a span of 10 months, the MSEDCL said.
Chandra said, “There are a total of 3,m214 charging stations in the state, both public and private.”
The count of electric vehicles in the state has experienced rapid growth in recent years. In 2018, 4,643 electric vehicles were sold in the state; meanwhile, in 2022, the number reached 1.9 lakh electric vehicles.
