The hiked power tariff is going to hit the billed consumers — domestic, commercial as well as industrial — while the customers with zero bills will remain untouched. The hike has not gone down well with the industry.
“Hiking the power tariff and even the fixed charges (as per the declared load) was well-planned. Government was waiting for results of Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll. Hence, they implemented it soon after the results were declared but the customers who are already paying bills will be bearing the brunt of hiked tariff and not the ones who get zero bills. This disparity is unhealthy for the growth of any state,” said Badish Jindal, president of All India Trade Forum.
