Hyderabad: The Telangana Southern and Northern Power Distribution Companies (Discoms) have deferred submission of aggregate revenue requirement (ARR) to Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC). They were supposed to submit the ARR, seeking power tariff hike, to TSERC on Saturday. Now, they are likely to submit it after the budget session of the Assembly. Sources said that any tariff hike proposals submitted to TSERC would provide ammunition to the opposition Congress and BJP during the budget session of the Assembly. So, the submission of ARR has been deferred.
As per rules, TSERC conducts public hearings on the proposed tariff hike after Discoms submit ARR to it. After this, TSERC takes a call on the hike. This exercise takes a minimum of one month. tnn
