CHENNAI: In a show of strength and to reiterate its position as the principal opposition party, the AIADMK staged protests across the state, save Chennai, on Monday condemning the DMK government for the proposed electricity tariff hike.
The protests marked by large gathering of cadres in all important cities and towns also targeted the state government for price rise of essential commodities, alleged deterioration of law and order and non-implementation of DMK’s poll promises.
“The massive crowd here has demonstrated our strength and reiterated that we are the main opposition party,” said former cooperatives minister Sellur Raju who led the protest in Madurai.
