Chhattisgarh Power Companies chairman Shailendra Shukla said cyclone Fani caused massive damage to power lines and electric poles in Raipur as uprooted trees, broken branches and hoardings fell on them.
After the cyclone hit the state and capital city, the power company employees worked on war-footing to restore the power supply, he added.
As per reports, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had directed the energy department to make all necessary arrangements to face the cyclone.
The first priority was given to large residential areas and fixing of those faults that can lead to restoration of power in larger areas.
