Farmers led by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) protested outside the office of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) in the district’s Dhand village on Friday, claiming that their power-related complaints remain unresolved. They threatened to lock the office if their problems were not resolved soon.
They alleged UHBVN employees were absent from office whenever they went to register their complaints.
Gurvinder Singh of the district’s Teek village said a transformer installed in his field had burnt over a week ago. He reported the matter to the JE and other officials, but they did not help him out especially at a time when his demand for electricity was urgent considering he had planted paddy.
