Cuddalore: Power generation at NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has been affected after five units of its thermal power stations were shut down due to shortage of lignite, said chairman cum managing director Prasanna Kumar.
Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Kumar said the power generation came down by 1,000MW and added that the company needs just 80 hectares of land to mine the required lignite to generate 1,000MW power presently.
“We require just 80 hectares of land presently to maintain the generation level. As on date five units have been shut down and generation is down by 1,000MW. Tamil Nadu is not getting power because of the land issue.
