Uttar Pradesh power employees will go on a day-long strike on January 8 in protest against the privation policy of the Centre and various state government and other regressive amendments in Indian Electricity Act, 2003.
The call for the strike has been given on a national level.
Power Employees Joint Action Committee convenor Shailendra Dubey said here on Wednesday that the notice for the strike had been given to the Central and the state governments.
He said the power employees had given the call for the day-long strike to press their 11-point charter of demands. He said one of the important demands was the restoration of the state electricity boards as done in Kerala and Himachal Pradesh.
