Mumbai: The city recorded a peak power demand of 3453 megawatt (MW), the highest this monsoon, on Friday, said an official from Tata Power.
The previous high was a day earlier at around 3,300 MW and the rise in peak demand has been attributed to the hot and humid weather across the city.
On Friday, the embedded generation in the city was over 1500 MW and the discoms did not face any difficulties in procuring additional power from outside, an official said. The power consumption in island city, where BEST supplies electricity to 10.8 lakh consumers and Tata Power also has a section of consumers, was close to 800 MW, sources said.
