Power Demand

Care Ratings has revised its growth estimate for FY20 power generation to 1-3 per cent from its earlier outlook of 5-6 per cent on the back of slowdown across the manufacturing industry. “The overall growth in demand for power has fallen to its lowest level in the last decade mainly on account of slowdown in industrial activity,” the agency noted.

During April to November 2019, growth in demand is 1.10 per cent compared to the same period of 2018. However, de-growth in demand has been observed in 10 states, with Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh at the top of the list.
