Kolkata: Large parts of Salt Lake and areas along the southern periphery of Kolkata, including the Garia-Narendrapur belt and Joka near Behala, suffered power cuts ranging from an hour to three as a fault triggered by a kite string at the Kasba sub-station tripped services.
“A Busbar fault occurred at the 220 KV substation of WBSEDCL at Kasba, shutting off supplies to areas serviced by it. Restoration work began shortly afterwards. While supplies to some areas were restored within an hour, it took longer for some areas like Joka,” an official said.
