MUMBAI: A 27-year-old woman riding pillion, who fell off the motorbike on a potholed road on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Naigaon on August 9, succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
While the Naigaon police registered a case of accidental death, her brother-in-law, Deepak Gupta (24), who was riding the two-wheeler blamed the pothole for his losing control of the vehicle.
While Deepak escaped unhurt, his sister-in-law Pooja Gupta, who was caught unawares, lost balance and fell on the road. She sustained serious head injuries and was admitted to a nearby private hospital where she died on August 18. Deepak and Pooja, residents of Malad, were headed to Valiv in Vasai (east) to a relative’s home when the incident happened around 9 pm.
