CHENNAI: Traffic movement on the busy Radhakrishnan Salai may get affected as Chennai Metro Rail Limited plans to raze a portion of the flyover on the RK Salai-Royapettah junction this December for phase-2 metro rail construction.
In one year, an arm of the Adyar flyover will also be demolished for metro rail work. The flyovers will be rebuilt in 3-4 years.
A portion of the two flyovers is being demolished as their foundation pillars come in way of the planned Radhakrishnan Salai metro station, which may be at 17m depth, and Adyar junction metro station, which will be at 22m depth, as well as tunnels.
