MUMBAI: The Election Commission of India has asked the ministry of civil aviation to instruct Air India to take action against its official responsible for having Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photographs on Air India boarding passes in violation of the model code of conduct. The commission also directed the ministry to report the action taken within a week’s time.
In a letter sent to the secretary, ministry of civil aviation on Tuesday, Ajoy Kumar, secretary, Election Commission of India expressed “serious displeasure over the non-compliance it Commission’s lawful instructions and the lackadaisical approach in enforcing the Model Code or Conduct.”
The commission also hauled up the aviation secretary for not responding to it’s letter dated March 29 in this regard. It also instructed the secretary to convey it’s displeasure over the subject to Air India.
