To reduce the increasing expenditure on electricity for civic infrastructure, the PMC has decided to explore different cost saving measures pertaining to procuring electricity through open access power purchase for its various facilities.
The PMC looks after facilities such as water treatment, water supply and its pumping station, sewage treatment and its pumping station, road infrastructure, hospitals, schools, gardens, auditoriums, office buildings among others. All these facilities need electricity, and monthly bills are running into crores.
“The PMC has started using non-conventional electricity to reduce expenditure and promote renewable sources like solar and waste to energy.
