CAG Report

In a scathing attack on country’s transmission utility Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has rapped it for shoddy planning of infrastructure and non-collection of Rs 6,853 crore relinquishment charges from power companies who did not use the transmission access systems ordered by them.

It said as per regulations, a long-term customer may relinquish the long-term access (LTA) rights fully or partly before the expiry of the full LTA term by making payment of compensation for stranded capacity.
