Petrol rates and diesel rates have been steady over the last twelve months. However, individual cities see fluctuations in their prices everyday. The prices of petrol and diesel change state by state, depending upon various criteria such as Value Added Tax (VAT), freight charges, local taxes, etc.
On Sunday, the Punjab government raised the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel prices. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government increased petrol prices by 92 paise and diesel prices by 88 paise for retail customers.
