CHENNAI: The state has introduced online applications to get permission for road-cut across the city to curb unnecessary road-cuts.
According to a government order from the municipal administration and water supply department, the state has constituted a multi-department committee with top officials from GCC, traffic, Metrowater, Tangedco, highways and water resources department. These officials will vet permissions and assess importance, feasibility, duration and deposit needed for the road cuts.
As per the GO, applications should be submitted on the GCC website. An assistant engineer will be deputed to inspect the feasibility and payment must be made within seven days.
