Breaking previous records, peak power demand is expected to cross 7,400 MW this summer, electricity discom BSES said in a statement on Thursday.
To meet the demand, the distributor said that apart from arranging for adequate power, it had also ramped up the network capacity and made other arrangements.
In the year 2018-19, with a capital expenditure of Rs. 800 crore, the BSES ramped up its network capacity by 750 MVA (MEGA VOLT AMP) it said. It also installed about 250 new transformers, while about 350 were augmented, the discom spokesperson said. Apart from this, about 650-km of cable was also laid.
The discom also carries out ‘predictive checks’ to identify hotspots or to pre-determine potential faults and to take remedial measures.
