MUMBAI: If the passenger loads on flights arriving into Mumbai airport and those departing from the airport are compared, then it emerges that in the past five weeks, the arrival flights have had about 30 percent more passengers than the departure flights.
When domestic flight operations initially resumed on May 25, Mumbai airport had more passengers departing out of the airport and travelling back to their hometowns. With the rising trend of business travel as the purpose of flying, the airport has observed growth in arriving passengers since August 1, said Mumbai international Airport Ltd (MIAL).
Since the commencement not Unlock 3.0, the Mumbai airport has witnessed over 237,200 passengers at arrival as compared to approximately over 170,600 passengers at departures, said MIAL.
For arrivals, Delhi, Varanasi and Hyderabad are the top three cities with the highest arrivals of over 51,200, 19,700 and 16,100 passengers respectively during the same period. In comparison, the airport registered approximately over 108,500 arriving and 162,800 departing passengers approximately under the unlock 2.0 in the month of July 2020.
